ZIO | Winter Park, FL

ZIO is a dynamic, innovative company looking for a talented AV & Lighting Sales Engineer to join our team. This role supports our sales process by helping turn client needs into clear, well‑defined scopes and proposal deliverables. You’ll collaborate closely with sales, engineering, and clients to shape solutions that are easy to understand, aligned with budget, and ready to be presented to the client.

As an AV & Lighting Sales Engineer, you will help evaluate project requirements, review drawings and specifications, support client conversations, and prepare solution outlines and proposal documentation. You are not responsible for engineering drawings, CAD work, DSP configuration, or control programming—those tasks belong to our technical design team. Instead, this role focuses on communication, clarity, and helping ensure our internal teams and clients are aligned before engineering begins.

Smart Technology Simplified! This describes ZIO and the building technologies we deliver. To accomplish this, we work as a team, and everyone is dedicated to the highest level of quality. Every project must be better than the one before, and “good enough” doesn’t exist. At the same time, ZIO values balance—we encourage a healthy life‑work balance, asking everyone to put life before work.

Key Responsibilities Pre‑Sales Support
  • Partner with the sales team to review and qualify opportunities early in the process and help define scope direction
  • Review drawings, bid forms and project documents to evaluate technical requirements and solution considerations
  • Collaborate with engineering to confirm feasibility and shape solutions that align scope, budget and client expectations, resulting in clear, client‑facing proposals
Client & Partner Communication
  • Translate technical concepts into clear, business‑friendly language
  • Attend client or partner meetings with Sales as the technical support resource
  • Document conversations and ensure alignment between sales, engineering, and operations
Documentation
  • Develop proposal narratives, scope summaries, budget‑level outlines, and design engagement letters
  • Ensure client‑facing documents are clear, accurate and reflect agreed‑upon scope
  • Maintain opportunity notes and project detail within CRM and Insight
Account Growth
  • Strengthen relationships with existing clients through ongoing solution support
  • Recommend refreshes, upgrades, or roadmap planning tied to client budget cycles
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in AV, lighting controls, low‑voltage integration, or related building technology markets
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, or bid documents
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when simplifying complex concepts
  • Familiarity with CRM or project software (Insight, D‑Tools, Salesforce, etc.) a plus
  • Industry certifications (CTS, Lutron, Crestron, etc.) are valued but not required
Benefits
  • Paid Training, certifications, and industry events
  • Semi‑annual career coaching and development to help you achieve your long‑term goals
  • Retirement Matching
  • Health, Dental, Vision, and Disability Insurance
  • Paid Holidays & Time Off
  • Company events such as go‑kart racing, bowling, and other events you can help organize on a quarterly basis
  • Profit sharing
