Assistant to Division Director

Job DescriptionProvides comprehensive administrative support to the Division Director of Hematology; manages day-to-day administrative functions for the Division Director; functions with considerable autonomy and decision-making authority; and performs a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative support duties on behalf of the Division Director; ensures all of the Division Director's support needs are addressed by assessing own workload and seeking out assistance from other staff members when needed;
produces reports, spreadsheets, and presentations; plans and schedules extensive national and international travel; plans large-scale professional-level events and meetings; serves as liaison with faculty, staff, investigators, pharmaceutical companies, the patient office/patient coordinators, and other cancer institutions; performs special assignments and projects as requested; represents Division of Hematology to guests and visitors; consults with the Division Administrator on administrative matters concerning the Division Director;
assists with developing policies and procedures.
Per Classified Civil Svc Specs or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications6 months experience (600 hours course work or training) in customer service or communications, including researching, analyzing & interpreting information; 3 months experience (300 hours course work) in budgeting.
Additional QualificationsSome positions require 6 months experience (600 hours training) in operation of spreadsheet, publication, and/or presentation software and related computer equipment; and/or 3 months exp. (300 hrs course work) in supervision management and 3 months experience (300 hours course work) in interviewing.
