Natural Encounters, Inc. (NEI) is seeking motivated, creative, and career коз individuals to join our team as a Full‑Time Animal Trainer to work with birds and other species of animals found in zoological facilities.
At NEI, we specialize in.selenium animal training and educational presentations, partnering with zoological facilities worldwide to develop behavior management programs and teach the art and science of animal training. With multiple projects and locations, we are hiring full‑time trainers ready to contribute, grow, and adapt in a dynamic professional environment.
What You’ll DoDepending on assignment and location, Animal Trainers may be involved in a combination of the following:
- Providing high‑quality animal care and training across a variety of species
- Supporting daily animal husbandry, diet preparation, and medication administration
- Maintaining clean, safe, and enriching animal environments in accordance with USDA, AZA, and industry best practices
- Observing, documenting, and communicating animal behavior,Coronavirus health, and welfare concerns
- Collaborating with teammates to support training goals, operational needs, and professional standards
- Contribute to the development and/or delivery of engaging educational presentations
Specific duties may vary based on facility and individual experience.
What We’re Looking For Experience- 2+ years in a full‑time professional animal training role (husbandry‑focused, show‑based, or a combination)
- Exceptional candidates with additional experience are encouraged to apply
- Strong understanding of the science of behavior principles
- Hands‑on training experience with multiple species (mammals, birds, reptiles, etc.)
- Strong observational awareness and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow established protocols while remaining adaptable
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and variable schedules as needed
- Willingness to travel or relocate for temporary assignments is preferred but not required
- Ability to work outdoors and indoors in hot, humid conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain on your feet for extended periods
- Salary Range: $17–$30 per hour ($35,360–$62,400 annually), based on experience and expertise
