Summary

The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources Department in the areas of recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and recordkeeping. This position ensures efficient daily operations by maintaining personnel files, scheduling activities, and supporting employee programs. The HR Assistant works closely with the HR Manager to ensure compliance with company policies and employment regulations while fostering a positive, organized, and professional workplace environment.

Requirements / Requisites
  • This position reports directly to the Human Resources Manager.
  • This position is considered regular, full-time, and requires a minimum in-office schedule of 40 hours per week.
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience considered.
  • Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) Certified Professional certificate will be required within first year of holding job position.
  • Confidentiality, integrity, dependability, and cooperation.
  • Valid driver’s license if operating company vehicle. Access to dependable transportation.
  • Must agree to (and pass) a background check and drug screening testing.
  • Prior HR Experience Required.
Responsibilities
  • Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen, forward calls, and provide information.
  • Greet visitors, determine purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.
  • Review applications and job orders to match applicants with job requirements; conduct reference or background checks; interview to obtain information on work history, training, education, or job skills; select qualified applicants or refer them to managers; make hiring recommendations when appropriate.
  • Schedule or administer skill, intelligence, psychological, or drug tests for current or prospective employees; contact applicants to inform them of status.
  • Perform searches for qualified candidates using databases, networking, Internet resources, job fairs, recruiting firms, or employee referrals; develop or implement recruiting strategies to meet staffing needs.
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions using HRMS; maintain records and compile statistical reports; ensure the HR Department operates to support employees.
  • Interpret and explain HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations; provide information about policies, duties, working conditions, wages, promotion opportunities, and benefits; confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of EEO, ADA, and related guidelines; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
  • Think creatively, organize, plan, prioritize work, develop objectives and strategies, make decisions, and solve problems; update knowledge and interpret information for others.
