Position: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Location: Winter Haven, FL

Job Summary:

Conducts comprehensive health assessments, demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the diagnosis and treatment of complex responses of individual, families, and communities to actual or potential health problems. Formulates clinical decisions to manage acute and chronic illnesses and promote wellness.

Responsibilities and Performance Expectations:

  • Establishes therapeutic relationships to facilitate patient progress with treatment goals.
  • Provides psychiatric evaluation, determines diagnoses, and prescribes appropriate treatment.
  • Develops and maintains psychotherapy skills to meet the needs of a diverse population.
  • Keeps informed about current research and knowledge and applies it to patient care.
  • Utilizes the DSM in making diagnostic formulations.
  • Integrates bi-psychosocial information into a single, shared electronic medical record.
  • Performs and documents psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-up.
  • Enters progress notes into the medical record.
  • Reviews laboratory tests, reporting abnormal results to the appropriate provider.
  • Provides direct individual, family, and group therapy.
  • Provides consultation to healthcare providers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner training
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Board Certification is required
  • Experience with Geriatric age patients;
    Child and adolescence experience is a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Spanish speaking is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience is preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires 80% or more time spent standing/walking.
  • Independently mobile.
  • Ability to lift weight equivalent to what would be required when occasionally assisting and positioning patients.
  • Ability to adapt and function in varying environments of workload, patient acuity, worksites, and work shifts.
