Position Overview
The Shuttle Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for WSSU faculty, staff, students and visitors. This position involves operating a variety of campus vehicles, including cars, vans, and large passenger buses requiring a CDL, following established routes and schedules. The Shuttle Driver ensures passenger safety, maintains vehicles in good working condition, and upholds departmental and traffic regulations.
In addition to transportation duties, the position supports Parking and Transportation Services by assisting with traffic management, parking, and special campus events. Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to recognize and respond to safety concerns are essential.
- Operate campus vehicles (cars, vans, buses) following routes and schedules.
- Ensure passenger safety and uphold traffic regulations.
- Maintain vehicles in good working condition.
- Assist with traffic management, parking, and special campus events.
- Respond to safety concerns and demonstrate professionalism.
- Valid US Driver's License.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
- DOT physical required.
- Demonstrated possession of competencies necessary for work.
- Required licenses or certifications to operate assigned types of vehicles.
- Experience with vehicle operation and campus transportation preferred.
