Overview
The Johnston County Department of Social Services (DSS) mission is to serve, aid, and protect vulnerable children and adults by promoting family health, self‑sufficiency, and protection throughout the community. The Child Services Division provides protective services, investigations, assessments, emergency on‑call, case planning, foster care reunification, independent living, and training for foster parents and adoptive applicants.
Responsibilities- Conduct qualitative reviews of screened out reports, assessments, in‑home services, foster care cases, and licensing processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and county policies, standards, and procedures.
- Collect, organize, and analyze data from cases to identify trends related to service delivery, effectiveness, and policy adherence.
- Implement a sampling plan for case reviews; consult with case workers and supervisors to ensure data validity.
- Provide training and coaching to staff according to needs identified in the CQI process.
- Use database applications to present data in a clear and actionable format.
- Present findings and data to agency staff, leadership, or other stakeholders.
- Demonstrate in‑depth knowledge of relevant policies and practices that align with procedural requirements.
- Co‑facilitate or individually train agency staff on identified topics.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of IV‑E eligibility and other funding sources.
- Collaborate with staff, stakeholders, and external professionals across departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the team supervisor, agency director, or designee.
- Make recommendations to the supervisor to improve caseworker and supervisor practice, including revisions or additions to division protocols.
- Continue to monitor and report on efforts to improve performance in the Program Development Plan.
- Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work, or Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work plus one year directly related experience; or Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work plus two years directly related experience.
- Or Master’s degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience;
Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience;
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience. - Completion of Pre‑Service Training:
Child Welfare in North Carolina is required.
- Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year of directly related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and two years of directly related experience.
