Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Winston Salem, NC.

• Hourly Pay: $30.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
• Sign On Bonus: $1,750 after 30 days and $1,750 after 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday, Second Shift 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
• Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
• Three years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
• All other certifications required by location (required)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Must have at least 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
• Computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.)

• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers covering the last 3 years)

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or badging/built‑in customer background requirements.

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
• Standard and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostics computers when applicable
• Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints when assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of the shop management system and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Other support duties as required, including Service Island support
• SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
  220)
• Complete two OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required (predominant OEM of fleet mix within 365 days)
