Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Winston Salem, NC.

What You’ll Earn- Hourly Pay: $30.00 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Sign On Bonus: $1,750 after 30 days and $1,750 after 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, Second Shift 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
- Basic tools required
- Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
- Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
- Three years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
- All other certifications required by location (required)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- Must have at least 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
- Computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.)
- Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers covering the last 3 years)
Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or badging/built‑in customer background requirements.
Responsibilities- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
- Standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostics computers when applicable
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints when assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of the shop management system and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Other support duties as required, including Service Island support
- SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete two OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required (predominant OEM of fleet mix within 365 days)
