As a Retail Associate, you will ensure our customers have a positive shopping experience. You will greet customers, assist with merchandise, perform store operations, and maintain a clean, safe, and well‑presented environment.
Essential Functions- Practice safety and maintain a safe environment for customers and associates.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor, keep egress clear, and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet all customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly “hello.”
- Assist customers at the register, with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably.
- Respond promptly to customer service calls and handle issues courteously, involving Store Leadership when necessary.
- Represent the Ross brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors; replenish restroom supplies; disinfect high‑touch areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company’s dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery per best practices to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor quickly and merchandise items per guidelines.
- Understand the Loss Prevention and Store Protection programs and follow all related policies.
- Handle cash, check, charge‑card, and refund transactions accurately; maintain awareness and accuracy with bankable tenders.

- Effective communication with customers, associates, and leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
- Basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Use all store equipment, including registers and PCs.
- Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
- Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom shifts require regularly pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 pounds.
