Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Tele role requiring a NC or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Position is on a 41-bed inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit

• Patient population includes renal and limb preservation patients, ESRD, ARF, vascular procedures, CHF, diabetics, and diabetic foot ulcers

• Telemetry capability and management required

• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6

• 12-hour day shifts (6:45 to 19:15), working every other weekend

• Float to other units may be required

• Typical assignment length is 13 weeks, with 36 or 48 hours per week options

• Self-scheduling based on unit needs

• Uses Pyxis and Epic systems and SBAR communication

• RTO (Requested Time Off) after booking is not allowed and call-offs may result in contract cancellation

• Care is delivered by an interdisciplinary team with daily meetings

• Peritoneal dialysis conducted on the unit with dialysis team initiation; hemodialysis performed in dedicated HD unit

• 24 hours of orientation provided, including preceptor shifts and EMR education

• Navy or white scrubs required and not provided

• Holiday coverage as assigned may be required

• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate

• Interview required prior to offer

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license

• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience

• BCLS certification required

• Telemetry skills with ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias

• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

• First-time travelers are accepted
