The CVSU (Cardiovascular Surgical Unit) specializes in concentrated care and management for patients with severe cardiac, vascular, and thoracic disorders, focusing on invasive hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical support for cardiovascular surgery, and post‑anesthesia care for cardiovascular patients who received general anesthesia.
The CVSU serves critically ill patients 18 years or older. Patients admitted may be receiving treatment for a variety of cardiac conditions, including but not limited to:
- Cardiogenic shock
- Aortic dissection
- Mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, VA‑V, VV, VAV), RVAD, and LVAD
- Cardiac tamponade
- Post open‑heart surgery
- 24/7 availability for specialized cardiac care
