POSITION SUMMARYThe Machinist reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for producing parts using various tooling and machines; operates in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Sets up program and operates conventional manufacturing machines, CNC Machine, lathes and milling machines.
- Reads and interprets drawings and builds parts to the specifications.
- Assembles parts to expected quality specifications.
- Inspects parts, using basic hand tools, for accuracy of fabrication per drawing specifications.
- Builds tooling and fixtures needed to produce parts using manufacturing machines.
- Completes required paperwork as work progresses per work instructions; inputs necessary information in computer work order.
- Assists in special projects as required and assists coworkers as required.
- Cleans and maintains shop equipment for proper operation.
- Informs Production Manager of faulty/perishable equipment and tooling for repair.
- Keeps work area clean and properly stores equipment.
- Complies with established company and department safety procedures.
- Protects equipment and parts from damage.
- Informs Production Manager of damage to equipment and personal accidents.
- Operates in compliance with company safety practices: complies with and aids in the development of departmental safety rules; ensures all equipment is in good working order and operates in a safe manner; monitors area for hazards; and maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Three to five years previous Machining with three, four and/or five axis experience.
- Ability to use power operated machinery.
- Familiar with the use of basic hand tools.
- Must be team oriented and time sensitive.
- Ability to work on own and motivated to perform job and provide a high-end, quality product.
- Ability to work to specifications and extremely high attention to detail.
- Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
This position requires the ability to lift a maximum of 75 lbs. and work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to travel occasionally.
WORKING ENVIRONMENTThe working environment is not climate controlled and is weather permitting. Daily contact with employees in other departments is required.
