Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications.
The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Primary areas of responsibility include scheduling, releasing to operations and pegging to shipments, supply chain related project work, and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule production efficiently and cost-effective manner, based on equipment, labor and material availability to achieve operational objectives. Activities may include:
- Releasing production orders to operations
- Managing fiber inventory and coloring plans
- Assigning fiber
- Assigning finished goods to sales orders
- Review production processes and coordinate with other planners / schedulers.
- Participate on teams focused on process improvements, including material flow, cycle times.
- Participate on teams focused on improvement to MRP system, processes and data.
- Provide inputs and maintains planning and scheduling metrics.
- Routinely report to management on status and performance for assigned products.
- Manage the master production schedule to drive materials for customer requirements and optimizing required production fluctuation and inventory levels.
- Establishes planning strategies to maximize the optimal MRP environment for assigned product sets.
- Coordinates demand recognition for new products in MRP for both new product introduction and product transfers between plants.
- Continually improve plant capacity analysis model and tools that calculate and report capacity consumption for all product lines both in manufacturing units (ckm, tkm, cckm) and hours.
- Engages in materials coordination and capacity facilitation with plant procurement.
- Analyze internal and external processes (benchmarking) to maximize efficiency of function and systems.
- Measure and compare actual production results against the production plan and forecast.
