What We Offer
- Family Care Unit (Mother/Baby) provides postpartum care for mothers and newborns (couplet care) in a Baby‑Friendly, breastfeeding‑focused hospital.
- Provides direct leadership oversight of the Lactation team, supporting evidence‑based, family‑centered care.
- Oversees ~75 FTEs
- Supported by two Assistant Nurse Managers
- Collaborative, interdisciplinary environment
BSN required, master’s degree preferred. Must have a minimum of 5 years of women and children experience, with some obstetrics experience. Must have some leadership experience.
Eligible for up to $7,500 in relocation assistance!
What You’ll Do- Lead and develop nursing and lactation teams through coaching, mentoring, and engagement.
- Maintain a strong on‑unit presence, supporting staff and clinical excellence.
- Oversee safe, evidence‑based postpartum and newborn care.
- Partner with physicians, educators, and interdisciplinary leaders.
- Drive outcomes related to quality, safety, patient experience, and staff satisfaction.
- Support operational and financial performance of the unit.
- Foster a culture where nurses feel supported, valued, and empowered.
- Education: 4‑Year/Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Graduate Degree preferred.
- Experience:
- Two years demonstrated leadership experience, preferred.
- Three years clinical RN experience in an acute care setting, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current RN licensure in the appropriate state, required.
- NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.
- Board certification in area of practice, preferred.
- Additional Skills (required): Understands and applies current and future trends/practice in area of responsibility; regulatory and governing standards, policies and procedures; information systems and software used in area of responsibility; equipment used in performing assigned duties; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; skills in interviewing and selection process; understanding of budgeting, staffing, payroll and purchasing processes; implementation of competency, feedback, development and progressive discipline processes;
team‑building, conflict management, and interpersonal relationship skills; principles of adult learning and teaching methods/models; decision making, project leadership and consultation, delegation and communication skills; customer needs and expectations and knowledge for improvement to exceed customer expectations; principles of change management.
- Full‑time (40 hours), exempt.
- Primarily day shift with occasional evening flexibility.
- Weekend call rotation shared with Assistant Nurse Managers.
