Director Employment Law Partner
Reynolds American Inc. is looking for a Director of Employment Law to join the Human Resources Group in Winston‑Susalem, NC. The role reports to the Vice President of Employee Relations and Employment Law and focuses on providing pragmatic, business‑oriented counsel across a wide range of employment‑law matters.
Responsibilities- Advise and collaborate with management and HR leaders on employment and labor law compliance, and emerging legal trends.
- Partner with HR to design compliant programs that enhance engagement and business success.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws (ADA, FMLA, Title VII, USERRA, ADEA, FCRA, FLSA, etc.) and federal contractor obligations.
- Respond to inquiries and enforcement actions from agencies such as the EEOC, DOL, and OFCCP.
- Provide legal counsel on sensitive employee‑relations matters, investigations, disciplinary actions, and policy reviews.
- Navigate labor‑relations issues and multi‑jurisdictional compliance challenges.
- Conduct negotiations with regulatory agencies and third parties.
- Handle litigation and draft employment agreements and related contract provisions.
- 6+ years of experience in employment law, with a mix of private practice and in‑house experience preferred.
- College and law degree from an accredited law school and state bar license in good standing.
- Strong influencing, negotiating, conflict‑resolution, communication, emotional‑intelligence, problem‑solving, credibility, and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to thrive in a deadline‑driven and collaborative environment.
