Purpose of the Role
As an integral part of our technology team, the IT Business Analyst will serve as the vital link between IT and various business units. Your expertise will help identify, analyze, and translate business needs into effective technology solutions. By streamlining processes and ensuring our systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with strategic goals, you will directly contribute to enriching our members’ experience and supporting the credit union’s growth.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with business units to gather, analyze, and document detailed business and technical requirements, ensuring clarity and completeness.
- Conduct thorough analysis of existing processes to identify opportunities for improvement that enhance operational efficiency, member satisfaction, and staff productivity.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications and user stories for IT teams and external vendors.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams to design, test, and deploy technology solutions that meet organizational standards and strategic objectives.
- Develop comprehensive project documentation, including process flows, test plans, acceptance criteria, and requirements traceability matrices.
- Assist in evaluating and selecting software solutions and vendors, assessing factors such as cost, benefits, compatibility, and technical feasibility.
- Lead or support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), developing scripts and scenarios that reflect real‑world business processes, and coordinating sessions with stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly, conducting root cause analyses and recommending long‑term solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Support project management activities by planning, scheduling, and coordinating resources to meet deadlines and scope.
- Liaise with vendors and external consultants to ensure timely delivery of system implementations, integrations, and updates.
- Maintain open communication with all stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and challenges.
- Ensure all systems and processes comply with applicable regulatory standards, including data security, privacy, and audit requirements.
- Assist in documentation for audits and security reviews to demonstrate compliance.
- Support other projects and tasks as assigned, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Accurately log time spent on projects and daily activities to ensure proper resource tracking.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years experience as an IT Business Analyst, preferably within the financial services or credit union industry.
- Strong understanding of operations and financial software systems; familiarity with core banking platforms is highly desirable.
- Proven experience with business analysis methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, and tools like JIRA.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communicator with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Certification such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional) is a plus.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards impacting credit unions, specifically related to data privacy and security.
- Ability to sit at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
