Patient Service Representative Hospital PRN

Pay Range: $22.00 – $22.00 per hour
Responsibilities- Registers or pre‑registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
- Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization for all services that require authorization, pre‑certification, or referral.
- Coordinates with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures until authorization or patient payment can be arranged; requests upfront payment of deposits from responsible parties.
- Updates schedule for cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes on an ongoing basis.
Position frequently requires walking between different areas. Must be able to push a wheelchair with a patient, maneuver through doors, ramps, and elevators, and respond quickly to medical stats and emergencies. Requires sitting for extended periods and the ability to lift 20‑50 pounds occasionally. Works in a fast‑paced environment with numerous interruptions.
Education & Experience- High School Diploma or GED required;
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. - Accurate spelling, attention to detail, and the ability to type 40 wpm.
- Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred.
- Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third‑party reimbursement preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills required.
- Base compensation listed within the pay range based on qualifications, skills, experience, and training.
