Full-time Recreation Therapist
We are currently seeking a full-time Recreation Therapist to join our talented and caring team. This position must have availability to work some weekend days. Our ideal candidate will possess strong multitasking skills, the ability to provide compassionate and competent care to a diverse patient population, must be able to build and maintain positive professional relationships with all hospital staff and patients, as well as demonstrate professional, effective communication skills.
Position Summary:
The Recreation Therapist serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide therapeutic recreational and activity services to adolescents and adults under the care of Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services. Specific tasks include:
* Implements evidence-based treatment interventions to restore, remediate and rehabilitate specific aspects of cognitive, emotional and social functioning through recreational and activity therapy.
* Performs clinical assessment from and recreational therapy perspective and interprets results to best implement activity treatment plan.
* Maintains clinical and administrative documentation associated with services rendered, including assessments, group notes and treatment plans.
* Maintains strict confidentiality in following with federal law and hospital policy.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female adolescents and adults, as well as dually diagnosed adults.
In absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization's orientation and training program.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
Experience:
One year minimum recreation therapy experience. Previous experience in behavioral health field preferred.
Licensure/Certification :
Current certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation (CTRS) and current license by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy (LRT).
Physical Requirements:
Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform CPI physical, verbal and non-verbal techniques. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
