Compensation: $85,000 – $100,000 annually

Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) professional to lead and continuously improve safety, health, and environmental programs at a lithium-ion battery recycling facility. This role is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and eliminating potential hazards through the development, implementation, and monitoring of comprehensive HSE programs while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret accident, loss, and exposure data; prepare recommendations and corrective action plans to mitigate risk.
- Develop, manage, and oversee HSE policies and programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, SARA Title III, TSCA, CAA, CWA, NFPA, NEC, ANSI, and NIOSH regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and facility evaluations to minimize safety, health, and environmental impacts.
- Evaluate compliance with regulatory standards and recommend process, equipment, or procedural improvements to reduce hazardous conditions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and multiple locations to assess current systems, identify gaps, and implement effective solutions.
- Lead and support incident investigations, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and monitor trends to reduce injuries and illnesses.
- Develop and champion employee engagement initiatives within the HSE management system.
Qualifications
Certifications (Required):
- One or more of the following: CSP, MSP, CSD, or CIH
- OSHA 501 certification
Certifications (Preferred):
- CCPSC or CHMM
Education & Experience (Required):
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
- 5+ years of safety experience in chemical manufacturing, process safety management, battery manufacturing, battery recycling, or a closely related industry
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related discipline
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
- Ability to conduct and interpret industrial hygiene testing and environmental monitoring
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to influence, coach, and collaborate across all organizational levels
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders, work at elevated heights, lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, and stand or walk for extended periods
- Ability to pass respiratory fit testing and medical evaluations (reasonable accommodations available)
