Description

The Wooten Company is seeking a team-focused, innovative Site Civil Project Engineer with strong storm water background to join our expanding Raleigh Civil Site Team working from our Winston Salem office.

We are a multi-disciplinary firm dedicated to providing engineering, geomatics, building systems and architectural services to municipalities, counties, water and sewer authorities, educational institutions, mission critical facilities, and private industry across the Carolinas. We provide our clients with consulting for civil / environmental engineering, mechanical / electrical / plumbing engineering, architecture, and GIS / surveying services. Essential Functions

  • Maintain firm understanding of project phases from kick-off to close-out.
  • Work to accomplish the following tasks as a technical lead:
  • Preliminary Engineering Due Diligence
  • Research Federal, State and Local Government Agencies as Required for Land Development Projects.
  • Develop Conceptual Plans Based on Research and Client Requests
  • Generate necessary engineering design computations to support the design.
  • Prepare Construction Plans required for the project.
  • Prepare Site, Utility, Grading/Drainage, Stormwater Management, Erosion Control, and Roadway Designs per the Local Authorizing Agency.
  • Compile Project Manual Which Includes Contract Documents and Technical Specifications.
  • Prepare and Obtain Necessary Permits.
  • Coordinate with Other Disciplines as Required.
  • Assist with the Project Advertisement, Bidding, and Contracting.
  • Communicate with Clients and Other Project Stakeholders, including attending and Participating in Project Meetings.


Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
  • 1-4 years of experience as a Professional Engineer (PE) in a consulting engineering environment (preferred)
  • NC Licensed Professional Engineer (or if licensed outside NC, ability to obtain NC license within one year)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (O365) applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD – Civil 3D strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Strong technical skills in site/roadway layout, grading, drainage, storm water management, utility, and erosion control design.
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling preferred.
  • Writing and compiling storm water reports and/or narratives.
  • Experience with compiling project manuals.
  • Familiarity with limited construction administration and observation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to design team and clients.
  • Able to work on multiple projects at one time.
