Join us as a Lead Manager – Environmental Engineer at Reynolds American Inc., a global multi‑category business committed to building a smokeless world. This role is based in Winston‑Salem, NC and offers an exciting opportunity to lead environmental compliance projects, shape regulatory strategy, and support sustainable initiatives across air, water, and waste.
Key Responsibilities- Act as Lead Manager and Subject Matter Expert for Environmental Compliance across OpEx and Cap Ex projects, collaborating with multifunctional teams to implement and manage compliance programs in air, wastewater, stormwater, SPCC, groundwater, and hazardous waste.
- Identify risks, negotiate and develop innovative mitigation strategies with internal and external stakeholders—including regulatory agencies and legal counsel—to ensure project alignment with business objectives and environmental regulations.
- Execute and oversee compliance tasks such as preparing reports, securing permits, managing regulatory inspections, and providing feedback on facility or process changes, while meeting project deadlines.
- Deliver and document compliance training sessions, maintain knowledge of emerging regulations, and regularly present findings and recommendations to management and leadership teams.
- Support the company’s sustainability goals with a focus on regulated waste management and waste reduction initiatives.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum five years’ experience in environmental compliance, with expertise in at least one area such as air quality, wastewater, stormwater, groundwater, or hazardous waste.
- Ability to interpret environmental regulations, perform calculations, and review complex project proposals.
- Demonstrated organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills, able to work independently or as a team leader, including direct engagement with regulatory agencies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and effective communication across verbal, written, and presentation formats with key stakeholders.
