Senior Electrical Engineer – Pike Corporation

Position:
Provide engineering and technical expertise and supervision to Transmission Substation engineering and design teams to deliver safe, cost‑effective, and quality engineering and design services. Include civil‑structural specific design and direction on complex engineering and technical challenges for projects. The role comprises direct billable client work, project management support, leadership of discipline‑specific work, charge engineering duties, and management of project schedules and budgets.

Support proposal development, project cost estimating, and business development efforts.

• Experience and expertise in the identification, analysis, and resolution of engineering, technical, and design problems.
• Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
• Thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
• Continuous improvement of job‑related engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills, process development, and performance.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Understand and create substation civil‑structural drawing packages (foundations, structural steel, bus and cable) utilizing national code, industry standards, and best practices.
• Champion the company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
• Interact with customer’s internal engineers and technical personnel on a day‑to‑day basis.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers.
• Monitor deliverables, schedules, and present solutions to the client.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

• No direct reports, but mentors and provides leadership to junior engineers and those engineers outside the discipline.

• Required:
  
  A Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
• Required:
  
  Engineering Degree awarded from a college or university that is accredited by ABET.

• 5–7 year(s) experience as an engineer with the electrical industry in the field of power delivery.

• Professional Engineering (PE) license required!

• As needed for the job and employee development.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, operational procedures, etc.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret spread sheets.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
