This is a fixed term position from May to August 2026

The Wabtec Digital Onboard Solutions Engineering team develops cutting-edge electronics and software solutions for the rail industry. This includes communication modules, event/video recorders, and train control equipment. How will you make a difference?

As an Embedded Software Intern, you will assist in designing, developing, and testing software and hardware systems to ensure that our digital products meet customer specifications, on time, with quality.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Enrolled as a full-time student in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

  • Proficient in programming with C, C++, or Python for embedded systems.

  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux environments.

  • Basic knowledge of microcontrollers and debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers.

  • Understanding of communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, or CAN.

  • Experience working with version control tools like Git.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Develop and debug embedded software for real-time applications.

  • Implement and test firmware features based on project requirements.

  • Analyze and resolve hardware-software integration issues.

  • Collaborate with the hardware team to validate and optimize embedded systems.

  • Write and execute unit tests for software modules.

  • Maintain and update technical documentation for firmware and testing processes.

  • Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress and challenges.

The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
