Position Summary
The Casual Family Support Worker provides supportive, culturally safe, and trauma-informed services to families connected to Makoose
C. Gamik. This role focuses on strengthening family relationships, supporting reunification where appropriate, and assisting families in navigating services while honoring Indigenous culture, values, and community connections.
- Support families with practical, emotional, and advocacy needs
- Assist during visits, appointments, and transitions
- Connect families to community resources and supports
- Support Indigenous led, culturally grounded programming
- Promote cultural identity and community connection
- Observe family wellbeing and support crisis intervention when needed
- Maintain confidentiality, documentation, and professional boundaries
- Work collaboratively with Case Workers and team members
- Experience working with families, children, or social services is an asset
- Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practices
- Knowledge of Indigenous communities or family services is an asset
- Ability to work flexible, on-call hours (evenings/weekends)
- First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid driver’s licence (asset)
- $20 per hour
