Indigenous Outreach Social Worker – Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) Position Summary
- Work with an interdisciplinary team and community partners to deliver high-quality services to residents of Inkster.
- Encourage community and client engagement through a diverse range of client care initiatives.
- Support community resource centre initiatives; provide community programming, group facilitation and client advocacy.
- Serve as a source for culturally appropriate resources.
- Provide counselling to Inkster community residents ages 12 and up via referrals or self‑referrals.
- Support Nor West initiatives such as Community Resource Triage, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and other programs as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work and registration in good standing with the Manitoba College of Social Workers.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 3–4 years of counselling experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with community development and community education.
- Knowledge of community resources and community development principles.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Skills in leadership development and group facilitation.
- Empathetic, non‑judgmental approach.
- Ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team in a variety of settings.
- Knowledge and experience with diverse cultures and economic backgrounds.
- Knowledge and experience working with Indigenous populations; culturally appropriate resources is an asset.
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language is an asset.
- Connections/networking with Indigenous community (e.g., access to elders) is an asset.
- Experience with traditional Indigenous cultural ceremonies is an asset.
- Ability to lead/instruct traditional Indigenous cultural practices is an asset.
- Availability to work some evenings and/or Saturdays.
- Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s licence.
- Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Records Check required.
