As a Heavy Duty Service Foreman, you will oversee and allocate work to Service Technicians and Apprentices. You will also use your experience to perform repairs, maintenance, and conduct inspections, hands‑on. Some of the job duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Operating shop equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Promoting a safe work ethic, attitude, and workplace. Ensuring safety policies, standards, and procedures are followed to achieve a safe work environment and safety for all staff, customers, and visitors.
- Developing and scheduling maintenance tasks per manufacturers’ recommendations. Ensuring equipment is cleaned, lubricated, and maintained on daily basis.
- Interpreting and scheduling work orders with Technicians to ensure effective utilization of resources, while considering skills required to complete tasks.
- Working with Warranty Personnel to ensure that warranty claims are completed, and recorded in accordance with the manufacturers’ procedures, recognizing multiple vendor warranty philosophies and policies.
- Providing proactive leadership and management of all staff resources within shop to maintain a functional shop floor.
- Providing ongoing coaching and mentoring to Technicians to enhance technical and troubleshooting skills and work standards, including review and clarification of procedures and techniques, quality of work, and work effectiveness.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Journeyman certificate.
- Prior Supervisory/Management/Lead Hand experience in heavy duty or related industry.
- Minimum of 5-6 years experience as a Heavy Duty Technician
- Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- ADP/CDK knowledge an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License an asset.
- CVIP Licence and Out of Province inspection certified preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail with a sense of urgency to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills with experience analyzing and resolving customer service and client issues.
