JobProfile
- Perform and coordinate scheduled inspections, repairs, and modifications to all HVAC equipment in Transit department facilities.
- Perform regular scheduled preventative maintenance inspections, troubleshoots, and repairs on HVAC equipment and controls (e.g., make‑up air units, exhaust fans, boilers, chillers, air conditioning units).
- Perform layout, assembly, installations, and modifications to HVAC equipment in accordance with all codes and regulations.
- Assist with developing preventative maintenance schedules and procedures, maintaining an inventory of spare HVAC components, and determining required tools and equipment.
- Prepare applications to obtain permits for installation and maintenance of gas equipment.
- Maintain and update blueprints and drawings to document modifications and component changes.
- Monitor HVAC equipment and controls performance using the Johnson Controls METASYS PC‑based direct digital control system software.
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance and repairs with outside contractors and other Winnipeg Transit areas when required.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certified Journeyman Commercial and Industrial Gas Fitter with an “A” Licence and a limited electrical licence.
- Manitoba Ozone Protection Industry Association (MOPIA) Licence.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC equipment (including large capacity units, exhaust fans, boilers, chillers, air conditioning systems, air handlers, and related controls).
- Experience operating and maintaining natural gas fired equipment.
- Experience monitoring and controlling HVAC equipment operations using Johnson Controls METASYS system.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring, schematic, and control drawings for PLC and hard‑wired control circuits; use test equipment to diagnose faults.
- Demonstrated organizational skills to complete several concurrent projects in a rapidly changing environment.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to lead a small group of workers and work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to adhere to the requirement of Respectful Workplace Standard.
- Maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- Possess a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence in good standing.
- Physically capable of performing routine manual labour (heavy lifting up to 100 lbs, maneuvering around large equipment, exposure to dust, noise, extreme weather, diesel exhaust fumes, and chemical agents).
- Have a complete set of hand tools specific to the trade on the first day of employment.
