MAINTENANCE WORKER – Part Time (Permanent) – Oakview Place

Applicants are invited to apply for the following position available at Oakview Place, a 245‑bed long‑term care facility located in the St. James area of Winnipeg.

• Observe and monitor all areas of the facility maintenance requirements and carry out repairs as required.
• Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs to equipment.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs to plumbing, electrical systems and carpentry.
• Refer problems requiring specialized work to outside contractors and monitor work performed.
• Conduct regular maintenance rounds.
• Identify and maintain adequate inventory to facilitate timely repairs.
• Participate in budget preparation and control.
• Ensure the safety and privacy of residents.
• Participate in developing action plans to resolve staff and resident complaints/concerns.
• Regularly lift heavy objects.
• Be exposed to hazards from use of tools and power equipment.
• Adhere to Extendicare’s Code of Business Conduct and Standards of Employee Conduct policies at all times.

• Three to five years of relevant experience and/or knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry and heating and ventilation systems.
• Have Grade 12 education, fifth‑class power engineer or equivalent (preferred).
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, kitchen and laundry equipment is an asset.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with other staff, residents, families and the public, both in written and oral form.
• Mentally and physically able to perform responsibilities as outlined.
• Current (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check & Adult Abuse Registry Check.

Salary and benefits will be based on the collective agreement.
