True North Sports + Entertainment is seeking an adaptable and experienced leader to join our Security department as an Operational Shift Team Lead!
The Operational Shift Team Lead provides evening and weekend supervision to the Venue Security team in a variety of capacities. In addition, they will be responsible for logistical and operational coordination of The Burton Cummings Theatre through staffing, training and venue oversight at certain events.
What to be excited for in this role:- Acting lead within the Venue Security office in the absence of the Venue Security Manager, as required.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of shift briefings and assignment of roles to the security team members on duty for each shift.
- Building security equipment and IT support.
- Direct oversight of all security and event coordination for the Burton Cummings Theatre including coordination with security staff (training, audits, on‑site support, troubleshooting issues that arise during events).
- Support exterior event security positioning and briefing, including coordination with third party security.
- Assisting with recruitment, hiring, performance management and training of new and existing Event Security team members.
- Support the coordination and delegation of duties within the security office to ensure all processes and protocols are carried out.
- Administrative support and cataloguing of various procedures within the security office.
- Attend operational and logistic meetings as the security representative.
- CCTV camera support and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Assistance in inventory management and procurement.
- Managing event security guard training and qualifications on a monthly basis (security licenses, SMART Choices, various training credentials).
- 1‑2 years' experience leading a team (team lead/supervise).
- Must be available to work evening hours, including weekends and holidays. This position’s schedule/hours are heavily dependent on the event schedule.
- Ability to lead large, diverse teams of front‑line employees and having the maturity to train leaders (sometimes by modeling hands‑on problem solving, and other times coaching leadership skills).
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with in the security industry or administrative roles will be considered an asset.
- Required to hold a valid Manitoba Security License.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite along strong general IT skills to navigate multiple applications and systems.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast‑paced environment.
- Walk and stand for long periods of time and able to lift up to 20lbs.
- An outgoing and mature individual with an eagerness to learn and take initiative will excel in this role.
