Security Guard (Days & Nights) Full-time
The Security Guard (Days & Nights) position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the premises, including protecting property, personnel, and assets from potential threats. This role involves monitoring surveillance systems, conducting regular patrols, controlling access points, and responding promptly to security incidents. The Security Guard will enforce facility policies, maintain a visible presence to deter criminal activity and assist visitors or employees as needed.
Additionally, they will write detailed shift and incident reports and collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
Please note that regular working hours are 11-12 hour shifts.
Responsibilities- Patrolling:
Ensure that all required areas are locked and reopened at the appropriate set times. - Patrol all public areas of the facility and perform periodic mechanical systems checks.
- Respond to individuals loitering in buildings.
- Assist resident manager / caretaker with noise and nuisance complaints as required.
- Write shift reports and work orders, etc.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures and Fire Plans.
- Oversee the work of outsourced security services teams, ensuring duties are completed as required.
- Monitor cameras and follow protocol as disturbances and discrepancies are noted.
- Respond to fire alarms and coordinate with the fire department.
- Respond to emergencies as they arise (break-ins, parking machine breakdowns, water tank bursts, etc.).
- Assist with Parkade issues (e.g., lost ticket, direct to pay station).
- Assist tenants who have lost their keys or access cards.
- High School Graduate or Equivalent; successful completion of a certified Manitoba Security Guard Basic Training course.
- Valid Manitoba Security Guard License.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience.
- Clear Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Check required and to be maintained.
- Computer Word/Excel and CCTV experience an asset.
- Available to work days, evenings, nights and weekends, with 11- and 12-hour shifts.
- Must be in good physical condition due to extensive foot patrolling.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
- Asset training:
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Canadian First-Aid Training, MOAB Training, Mental Health:
Awareness & Sensitive Training. - Clear Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required and to be maintained.
