Organizational Description

A non‑profit organization that organizes entertaining and educational events, workshops, and programming 365 days a year. Folklorama's mission is to bring people together by sharing ethno‑cultural experiences and education. Experience world‑class entertainment, authentic cuisine, warm hospitality, and beautiful cultural displays during Folklorama, the largest and longest‑running multicultural festival of its kind in the world, as determined in 2010 by the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts.

of Duties

The success of Folklorama is due to the commitment and hard work of our countless Team Folklorama volunteers! VIP Tour Registration Volunteers will work alongside a Folklorama staff member and serve as the guests' first point of contact for their VIP tour. You will ensure the guests are aware of their bus number and boarding time, and coordinate arrival and departure times at the other pick‑up locations on the evening of your shift.

Shifts are short and are a great introduction for someone who may one day be a Folklorama Tour Guide.

Tour Guide Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and ensure the group has a memorable time on their tour through your leadership.
  • Ensure the group receives the correct meal and beverage service at each pavilion.
  • Provide fun and educational commentary about Folklorama and the city of Winnipeg.
  • Deal with any problems that may arise promptly and communicate them to the Manager, Group Tour Programs.
  • Clock‑in at the beginning of the shift and clock‑out at the end of the shift using Better Impact.
  • Contribute to Folklorama's mission and vision.
Skills Required
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups.
  • Excellent communication.
  • Ability to work as a team with bus drivers and pavilion staff.
  • Participate in collaborative problem solving.
  • Experience using Better Impact and Dropbox is an asset.
  • Access to a cell phone is preferred.
  • Be punctual, enthusiastic, attentive, patient, and helpful.

Time Commitment:
Evening, Weekend
Tour pick‑up locations will be determined in the spring. Once you are contacted by the Manager, Group Tour Program and scheduled for an interview, you will receive further information regarding your shift, assigned tours, and locations.

Opportunity is available to candidates that: small, family and friends; large, corporate and schools; fulfilling volunteer hours for school credit;
French speaking / Bilingual (French and English); speaks another language (other than French or English):
