Description of Duties:
Equal Housing Initiative Inc. (EHI) has partnered with Harvest Manitoba, Costco, Shoppers Drug Mart, Second Harvest, and Leftovers Foundation to operate a nutrition program serving residents of the McLaren Hotel—a 150‑room Single Room Occupancy (SRO) building supporting vulnerable populations, a 14‑bed/unit transitional housing facility located on [address missing?], and 35 supportive housing units at the Vendome Hotel.
This initiative is part of EHI's broader commitment to supportive housing development under the Federal National Housing Strategy.
To ensure the continued success and sustainability of this program, EHI is seeking reliable volunteer drivers to assist with weekly food pickups and deliveries.
The Volunteer Driver will play a critical role in ensuring surplus food donations are safely collected and transported to the Selkirk House for preparation and distribution.
Volunteer Responsibilities- Picking up donated food items from designated partners including Harvest Manitoba, Costco, Shoppers Drug Mart, Second Harvest, and other community donors at scheduled times.
- Assisting staff and volunteers with unloading donations.
- Supporting the team with basic sorting and organizing of items when required.
- Ensuring safe handling and transport of food items in accordance with guidelines.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License (Required).
- Access to a reliable vehicle (Required).
- Ability to lift and carry boxes (up to approximately 40 lbs).
- Well‑organized, punctual, and dependable.
- Good communication skills and ability to coordinate pickup schedules.
- Respect for confidentiality and sensitivity when working with vulnerable populations.
- Cell phone required for coordination of pickup times and locations.

Time Commitment:

Opportunity is available to candidates who:
