Description of DutiesUrban Wagons is a grassroots volunteer based organization dedicated to supporting unsheltered and vulnerable individuals in downtown Winnipeg.
We fill our wagons with seasonal clothing needs, food, water and snacks to distribute on our walks.
Skills RequiredUrban Wagons outreach skills include the ability to meet and communicate with community members with compassion, respect and kindness.
Volunteers gather every Monday at 6:00 pm in the parking lot behind the Tim Hortons at Fort and Graham.
We fill our wagons and walk together as a group for 1.5-2 hours.
One time, casual and weekly volunteers are all valued and appreciated.
Skills Gained / Related CareersVolunteering with Urban Wagons can help people develop strong community service and interpersonal skills.
Volunteers gain hands on experience in food and clothing distribution, resource coordination, and basic logistics while learning how to engage respectfully and compassionately with vulnerable downtown community members.
These skills are relevant to jobs in social work, community outreach, nonprofit organizations, public health, human services and roles that involve client support, advocacy, or community engagement.

Time Commitment:
Evening, Flexible Hours
1.5-2 hours beginning at 6:00 pm every Monday.
Regular volunteers are most needed at this time, however, monthly or casual volunteering is welcomed as well.

Winnipeg, Downtown

- Group - small, family and friends
- Fulfilling volunteer hours for school credit
- Are able to attend with a support person
- Organization will provide:
