Kosher Meals on Wheels Friday Seniors Meal Delivery

Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre is looking for Friday Kosher meals on Wheels delivery drivers. Meals can be picked up at our center 1588 Main Street between 10:30–11:30 and delivered to seniors on our program. Meals that are delivered to the south end are able to pick up at The Asper Campus at 11:00 (this is to cut down on driving north).

We try to cluster meal deliveries so no one has a long route. Meals are labeled with names, address, phone numbers to ensure an easy delivery. Volunteers should plan on two hours max to deliver hot a fresh meals to isolated seniors.

Skills Required

Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre does not require any special skills to deliver meals. We need volunteers that are committed, friendly and have a reliable vehicle to help deliver meals to seniors on our program.

Skills Gained / Related Careers

Delivering meals to seniors is a rewarding and helpful way to volunteer. Our volunteers create relationships with their clients when they deliver meals. For some of these seniors this can be the only in‑person interaction they have that day.

Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre does our best to make volunteering easy. We have two meal pick up locations: one being Gwen Secter at 1588 Main Street, the other is the Asper Campus at 123 Doncaster. The meals are all made fresh that day and are packaged in bags with names, address and phone numbers included. We are in constant contact with our clients so we help volunteers with updates as needed.

Location of volunteer opportunity

  • Winnipeg – Assiniboine South
  • Winnipeg – St. Boniface

Opportunity is available to candidates that:

  • Fulfilling volunteer hours for school credit
  • Are able to attend with a support person
  • Required to complete community service
  • French speaking / Bilingual (French and English)

Organization will provide

  • A letter of reference
  • Training/Orientation
  • Tax receipt once a year for mileage
