Tooling Supervisor

The Tooling Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision within a unionized tool fabrication environment. Co-ordinates tool fabrication activities while ensuring work is carried out in a timely and safe manor, while within budget. Provides direction to employees and ensures company policies and procedures are adhered to. Ensures work is carried out in accordance with MCI's health, safety and environment protocols. Provides communication link to senior management and ensures objectives are met to achieve business goals.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:- Directs department activities and ensures all production tools fabricated meets production environment standards. Implements improvements within the department as required for maximum efficiency.
- Ensures work meets quality standards.
- Monitors department budget compliance and project capital compliance.
- Directs and assigns work to tooling associates and ensures employees have the training, skills and authorization to perform tasks. Manages employee performance to maximize effectiveness as set against overall labour efficiency (OLE).
- Ensures employees perform work safely and that equipment is maintained, and processes are carried out in compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (H&S/E) policies and procedures. Takes proactive measures to address H&S/E issues. When required, leads investigations and enforces compliance as applicable.
- Provides guidance to employees on work requirements and expectations. Ensures employees perform effectively and comply with various company policies, procedures and practices including Plant Rules, Plant Health & Safety Rules, Attendance, Human Rights, and others as applicable. Addresses any employee compliance or performance issues through MCI's corrective action process.
- Ensures compliance with terms of Collective Bargaining Agreement. Responds and addresses employee/labor relations matters as appropriate.
- Maintains and enforces department standards of neatness, order and cleanliness to meet "5 S" targets. Carries out other projects or initiatives aimed at advancing MCI's business effectiveness. Any other duties as assigned.
- Responsible to ensure all key controls (ICFR Internal Controls) identified under their area of responsibility are designed and operating as outlined in the internal controls over financial reporting.
- Ensure policies and processes are established and adhered to ensure goals and objectives for all regulatory and legal requirements are met including organizational quality, environmental, health & safety programs.

- Travel required:

- Previous leadership experience with a minimum of 3-5 years experience working within a tool fabrication environment, preferably in the transportation, automotive or bus industry. Machining Red Seal would be an asset.
- Proficient computer skills required with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and Share Point.
- Previous experience developing Jigs and Fixtures for high production process and industrial environments.
