Planning Supervisor – Steinbach

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Planning Supervisor to join our Production Planning team in Steinbach. Reporting to the Planning Manager, this role is responsible for supervising and coordinating the Production Planning Team to deliver accurate, achievable production schedules aligned to demand, inventory targets, and operational capacity, while promoting Barkman’s People, Quality, and Capacity culture.

Capacity: Balancing demand, inventory, and operational constraints to enable smooth production flow, improve on-time delivery, and support inventory reduction.
Your day at Barkman may include:
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to Production Planners, ensuring role clarity, workload balance, and consistent execution.
- Oversee execution of daily and weekly production schedules across production departments.
- Audit production progress, identify misses early, and negotiate recovery plans with Supervisors and stakeholders.
- Monitor inventory levels, demand signals, and changes to the forecast to support inventory reduction and continuity of production.
- Identify capacity and material constraints (equipment, labour, raw materials, tooling, etc.) and elevate risks with practical recommendations.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to maintain a consistent flow of raw materials and request materials not on Kanban, as required.
- Ensure strong master data (bill of materials accuracy, part numbers, lead times, min/max, routing assumptions, etc.), and coordinate corrections with stakeholders.
- Set, maintain, and reinforce planning standards (schedule rules, lead times, planning horizons, change control, and communication cadence).
- Ensure schedule integrity and quality of outputs (job travelers, priorities, dispatching logic, and data accuracy).
- Drive planning process maturity.
- Support Sales & Operations Planning activities by providing forward-looking visibility of load, risk, and required actions.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives and support a strong CI culture through practical improvements to planning systems and ways of working.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3–5 years of production planning experience (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and support a small team while managing shifting priorities.
- Strong working knowledge of planning concepts and discipline, with Epicor experience considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, organisation, and problem-solving skills, with a practical and solutions-focused approach.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with confidence partnering cross-functionally at Supervisor/Manager level.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and process adherence.
- Education or training in Business Administration, Data Analysis, Supply Chain Management, or Project Management (ASCM affiliation/learning is an asset).
