Job ProfileAs the Body Repairer you will work under the supervision of the Vehicle Systems Supervisor and are responsible for performing damage and corrosion repairs to transit buses and equipment, fabricating vehicle and equipment components and inspecting vehicle interior and exterior fittings and performing repairs as required.
As The Body Repairer You Will- Repair and/or replace the following: vehicle (Bus) body parts and components, sheet metal and fiberglass panels, glass, such as windshields, passenger windows and mirrors.
- Repair vehicle interior fittings such as passenger seat mounting frames, stanchions, flooring, etc.
- Perform bench layout work for the manufacture of sheet metal vehicle and build components and parts.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the classification, as required.
- High School graduate or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Journeyman Motor Vehicle Body Repairer Red Seal Certificate, recognized by the Province of Manitoba.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a journeyman manufacturing/repairing/modifying patch panels for vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently with a minimum of supervision.
- A clear understanding of safety practices relevant to the position.
- Ability to operate the hand tools and equipment required to perform the work involved.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with co‑workers and employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to adhere to the requirements of the Respectful Workplace Standard.
- Must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- Must possess a complete set of hand tools required for the position.
- Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License in good standing and will be required to attain Class 2 through in‑house training, within six months of hire.
