POSITION TYPE PART-TIME, CASUAL, EVENINGS
Job Purpose
The cleaner is responsible for performing cleaning, janitorial services and basic maintenance tasks of the properties under the direction and control of Neeginan Centre Inc.The cleaner will ensure that the established cleaning schedules are followed according to the cleaning standards in a safe and efficient manner.Evening shift work is required.Duties and Responsibilities
In consultation with the lead cleaner on shift, the cleaner will perform:
Sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing, vacuuming in office spaces, washrooms and public areasEmpty trash receptacles and garbage containersMaintain a clean and organized janitorial roomReplenish supplies in the janitor rooms and public spacesWash windows and glass surfacesClean elevators and door tracksChange light bulbs – if safe to do soStrip, clean, buff and wax hard floor surfacesWash walls, bathroom stalls and other soiled surfacesSnow clearing and other outdoor cleaning dutiesProperly use and maintain cleaning equipment and suppliesMaintain building security – locking doors and setting alarms as neededAssist in the set-up of the building for meetings and special eventsOther duties as assignedQualifications
Academic:
Grade 12 or equivalent level of education and experience, able to read, write and understand written and verbal communications in English1 year of experience in a similar role with a sound knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment and job performance standardsClear criminal record check and child abuse registry check is requiredSpecialized Skills
Safe use of floor polishers, automated floor scrubbers, vacuums, carpet cleanersWHMIS training or willing to trainFirst Aid/CPR or willing to trainPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE), proper use and careOther Skills
Must be reliable, trustworthy, punctualProven teamwork skillsAble to understand and follow safety proceduresAble to understand and follow established schedules and standards for cleaning efficientlyKnowledge of cleaning supplies; effectiveness, safe use and storagePhysical requirements
The position requires:
Able to lift 50 lbs (22kg) – moderate physical effortMinor exposure to dirt, dust, fumesAble to stand, crouch, kneel for extended periodsAble to regularly use stairs in a multi-storey buildingClose attention to detailAPPLICATION PROCESS
