We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join our team and lead efforts in optimizing driver pay. In this role, you will leverage advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to analyze driver performance data, design incentive programs, and develop predictive models to maximize earnings while maintaining cost‑efficiency and ensuring timely deliveries. You will be part of an established team of data scientists with experience in these areas and work closely with multiple teams, from product to tech, collaborating and building the next generation of algorithms that will scale our business.

This role requires interfacing with different teams, working under sharp production deadlines, and taking part in the product development cycle to shape cutting‑edge solutions. You will be mentored by a Lead Data Scientist and some of the most experienced leads in the market. Working in an Agile environment, you’ll have constant interaction with the team, stand‑ups, and many peer‑reviews where we help you perfect your models and solutions from end to end.

Ensuring effective deployment, and being comfortable analyzing, troubleshooting, and explaining your solution, are key to this role.

We run one of the few profitable smart logistic systems in food delivery, it auto‑schedules and optimizes itself to provide the best service experience. In any of the countries we run, we recommend customers the best food, with the best restaurants that are aware of their preferences and habits. Instantaneous data about your order flows through our systems, empowering our tools to predict when your food will arrive.

• Demonstrable relevant working experience
• Applied experience with machine learning, data science and solving problems at scale
• Ability to communicate business outcomes and recommendations from analysis verbally and written, ability to present results coherently
• Ability to develop confidently in Python as the majority of our team is using it. We need people with a passion for software, who can read and understand complicated codebases.
• Confident in extracting and manipulating data from our various SQL and No
  
  SQL data stores and storage frameworks.

• MS degree / PhD degree in a quantitative discipline (eg. Computer Eng., Computer Science, Stats, Physics). Undergraduate, if has taken courses related to the field.
• Practical experience on complete modeling lifecycle, from exploratory analysis through deployment, experimentation and monitoring.
• Experience working on a Logistics project
• Experience working with pricing algorithms
• Experience in retail in similar markets to Just‑Eat takeaway
• Experience working in agile teams, with code reviews and source control
• Experience with causal inference and multi‑objective optimization
• Comfortable with big data stores (Google Big Query, Amazon Data stores) and tools (including dynamo
  
  DB, elasticsearch, S3, SQS, Kinesis) or Spark / Hadoop / Kafka.
