Information Technologist (Deskside Support) – Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Bannatyne Campus, University of Manitoba.
Pay RangeBase pay: CA $60,205.60/yr - CA $86,850.40/yr.
OpportunityAs an Information Technologist, you will provide hands‑on technology support across the academic, research, and clinical environment at Bannatyne Campus. Reporting to the Medicine IT Technical Leads, you will ensure end‑user technology is secure, functional, and well supported across multiple colleges and affiliated research institutes. Responsibilities include setting up, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and specialized research and clinical workstations across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
You will also support research infrastructure, maintain Active Directory objects, assist with software deployments, document inventory, and contribute to continuous improvement of IT services within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in a technology related field.
- 3-5 years recent, directly related experience setting up, configuring, maintaining, and supporting people, desktop/laptop computers and software, preferably in an academic or business environment.
- Technical Certifications such as A+, Microsoft Office 365 considered an asset.
- 3-5 years of experience in a work-related / break-fix environment (Help Desk, Service Desk or Technician Services).
- Strong knowledge of Windows desktop environments and working with a variety of applications.
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS;
Microsoft certifications an asset. - Working knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Working knowledge of SharePoint and One Drive.
- Experience with macOS an asset.
- Deep knowledge of industry trends and standards.
- Exceptional Customer‑service focus and strong work ethic; able to manage emergencies off‑hours.
- Must be able to deal with all levels of staff, medical personnel, study members and the public in a professional and tactful manner.
- Solid organizational skills; ability to work with staff, faculty, and administration at all skill and management levels.
- “Can do” attitude and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Can work independently with minimal supervision.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload is required.
- Ability to meet deadlines and anticipate needs is required.
- Strong problem‑solving skills are required.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision is required.
- Able to deal effectively and professionally with staff at all levels is required.
