The Position:

Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager, the Talent Engagement Specialist will play a key role in ensuring that the recruitment, onboarding, and development processes support growth, uphold values, and reflect Bockstael Construction’s commitment to building a strong and sustainable workforce. You’ll bring a strategic lens to recruitment while managing the day‑to‑day execution of talent engagement and recruitment and onboarding programs, ensuring a seamless, engaging experience for candidates and new hires alike.

This individual will also be a valuable member of the HR team, assisting with company events and internal HR initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities: Candidate Engagement & Recruitment Support
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies that align with Bockstael’s organizational goals and workforce needs.
  • Partner with hiring managers to support all aspects of the recruitment lifecycle, including recruitment marketing, interviewing, and selection.
  • Actively source candidates across a range of roles—such as carpenters, labourers, project coordinators—using a variety of channels and tools.
  • Assist in scheduling interviews and coordinating recruitment events.
  • Support the continuous improvement of our hiring practices and implementation of an Applicant Tracking System, with a focus on equity, inclusion, and candidate experience.
Brand & Candidate Experience
  • Champion Bockstael’s employer brand in all talent engagement efforts, ensuring a professional and positive representation of the company.
  • Deliver an exceptional candidate experience by ensuring clear communication, timely follow‑up, and a respectful and inclusive process.
Onboarding Program
  • Design and coordinate a consistent, values‑driven onboarding program that sets new employees up for success.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. HR Manager to ensure a smooth transition from offer acceptance through to the employees’ first weeks on the job.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance onboarding content, tools, and timelines.
Reporting & Process Improvement
  • Track and report on key hiring metrics, sharing insights and recommendations for ongoing improvements.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date information in the applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • Stay informed of industry trends, HR legislation, labour market conditions, and best practices to continuously evolve our approach.
HR Support & Internal Initiatives
  • Support the continuous improvement of people and performance systems, including training, learning and development plans, and performance management systems.
  • Assist with planning and executing company events, celebrations, and employee recognition programmes.
  • Support internal HR initiatives aimed at improving culture, communication, and employee well‑being.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, ideally within construction, skilled trades, or a related industry; 2+ years of experience in HR coordination or similar roles, with exposure to recruitment and engagement activities.
  • Proven track record in recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement programmes.
  • Proven ability to manage full‑cycle recruitment independently, with a record of hiring for roles within skilled trades and professionals.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with both internal stakeholders and external candidates.
  • Experience facilitating onboarding programmes to ensure cohesiveness within the company.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and recruitment analytics.
  • Strong organisational, time‑management, and communication skills.
  • Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Additional certifications in Recruitment or Employee Relations are an asset.
  • Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
