The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is a national museum dedicated to the evolution, celebration and future of human rights. Located in the heart of Canada in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the CMHR rises from the Prairie earth at The Forks, which has been a meeting place for over six thousand years.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is centered around the idea that respect and understanding of human rights can serve as a positive force for change in the world. The Vice-President, People, Culture and Growth will support the collective efforts to build a workplace culture that is inclusive, equitable, innovative and focused on inspiring action.
Key responsibilities Human Resources Operations- Leads the human resources portfolio and related strategic priorities/initiatives that support the achievement of the CMHR’s strategic priorities.
- Leads the organization’s employee and labour relations, providing guidance on complex, sensitive, and high-risk issues while fostering a culture of fairness, respect, and accountability.
- Collaborates with all leaders to ensure internal and external relationships that advance the CMHR’s goals to develop and strengthen a diverse, inclusive, respectful, empowered and talented workforce.
- Represents the CMHR on select inter-museum committees and task forces and consults with related stakeholders to seek solutions in the areas of human resources management including the efficient and effective allocation of resources, equity, diversity and inclusion, labour relations, health, safety and wellness, and compensation.
- Develops and drives alignment and strategies around HR initiatives, policies, culture and engagement, talent management and retention including performance management and succession planning, organizational structure, leadership training and development, labour and employee relations, occupational health and safety, and compensation initiatives.
- Develops and implements an annual HR business plan and budget, which incorporates an accountability framework including strategic initiatives, projects and ongoing services for the CMHR.
- Creates a culture that promotes respect, equity, inclusion and innovation, and models anti-racist and accountable behaviours.
- Develops and executes strategies to support the CMHR’s strategic and to prioritize new and emerging issues and opportunities that may impact the organization.
- Provides mentorship and coaching using performance-driven strategies focused on growth and development.
- Contributes to the development of the CMHR’s strategic plan and coordinates the vision for organizational design, including monitoring and reporting on progress via annual corporate and departmental plans.
- Contributes to the development of the CMHR’s annual budget and uses sound judgment and strong financial management skills to manage financial resources, with regard to established policies and risk management strategy and protocols.
- Provides proactive, expert and influential advice in the development and implementation of corporate HR policies and programs that relate to all aspects of effective leadership and the employee experience.
- Designs workplace culture, change management, professional and organizational development strategies.
- Oversees strategic planning, evaluation and corporate performance initiatives, including government reporting and legal and regulatory compliance.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant area (e.g., human resources, public administration or related field).
- Demonstrated ability to manage strategic HR initiatives, leadership, organizational development, culture and change management.
