Position SummaryManito Ikwe Kagiikwe (MIK) supports women and children affected by systemic marginalization and substance use who have complex health and social needs. Functioning as part of a coordinated service delivery team, the Outreach Worker works proactively with new and existing clients, offering a range of support and recovery services, within an existing service plan and on an as-needed basis. The Outreach Worker is a relationship‑builder and advocate and provides service in a non‑judgmental and culturally appropriate manner, helping clients to build new skills and achieve their goals.
QualificationsEducation
- Must have a Valid Drivers’ License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in community, preferably with program target population
- Experience providing outreach with hard to reach populations
- Proven knowledge and ability in critical thinking, decision‑making, problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work‑related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes
- Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission and values
- Knowledge and historical factors that affect the health and well‑being of Indigenous individuals and families
- Proven ability to work within a team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity and cultural awareness
- Strong knowledge of diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro‑choice, social determinants of health, population health, harm reduction, trauma‑informed and community development approaches
- Post‑Secondary Education in a Social Services field
