The Manitoba government is seeking highly motivated Maintenance Assistants to work within the Asset Management Division, Operations branch.

DutiesThe Maintenance Assistant performs a variety of tasks relating to the operation and maintenance of government facilities such as office buildings, housing units and correctional centres. They are primarily responsible for duties such as preventative and corrective maintenance activities inside and outside of the buildings, maintaining heating and cooling equipment, assisting tradespersons and grounds keeper, performing daily checks, inspections and preventative maintenance on life safety systems and helping maintain client relations.
QualificationsEssentials:
- Trade designation or equivalent combination of education (5th class Power Engineer, partial or full trades certificate, BOMICertificate) or demonstrated experience with general building and grounds maintenance, and equipment. A combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
- Experience with building maintenance and repair and/or minor construction.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety, policies and legislation.
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive working relationship.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Must provide and maintain a Satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check.
- Must successfully complete an enhanced internal security screening.
- Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence without restriction and be capable of travel and work in other locations within the province.
- Must be physically capable of performing the required activities of the position including wearing personal protective equipment, working at heights and confined spaces.
