This process will be used to staff emergency terms only, i.e. the temporary appointment of a person to support an emergency response. Emergency terms must meet the minimum requirements of the position, i.e. required levels of education/occupational certification, official languages, security and other conditions of employment. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
Individuals who have been appointed to the CFIA as an emergency term are not eligible to be a rehired term and any subsequent non-emergency appointment must be made in the context of another type of staffing action.
Important messagesWhen you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is a separate employer and is not subject to the Public Service Employment Act.
The CFIA considers applications from individuals who have legal status to work in Canada and does not give preference to Canadian citizens.
