The Planning and Delivery Branch of the Department of Public Service Delivery is looking for a skilled and professional individual to fill a Land Use Planner (LP3) position located in Winnipeg. Duties

Provides senior-level land use planning expertise in support of the provincial school capital program by coordinating with school divisions, municipalities, and private developers. Leads complex planning assignments related to school site selection, zoning, and development approvals to ensure land readiness for the timely construction of new schools delivered through direct managed delivery. Works independently and collaboratively with capital planners, portfolio managers, and project managers to align land readiness activities with provincial land use policies, community growth objectives, and project cash-flow and development timelines.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Post-secondary degree in Urban, Rural, or Regional Planning (preferably at the Master’s level), or a related discipline combined with relevant planning work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Extensive Experience in land use planning, including review of development plans, zoning by-laws and subdivisions preferably in a public sector or infrastructure context.
  • Knowledge of land use planning principles, zoning, subdivision regulations, and municipal development processes.
  • Strong analytical, research, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Effective verbal communication skills demonstrating the ability to clearly articulate ideas to a wide range of audiences.
