The Senior Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) provides strategic leadership across program finance, philanthropy, and support services, ensuring financial insight, planning, and decision support enable effective delivery of the Society’s strategic objectives.

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, this role leads multiple finance teams responsible for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance management, and executive decision support. The Senior Director partners closely with senior leadership across programs and enabling functions to translate strategy into financial plans, provide clear insight into financial performance and resource deployment, and support informed, sustainable decision‑making.

Operating with significant autonomy, the Senior Director sets 1‑ to 3‑year priorities for their portfolio, oversees performance and governance, and ensures the delivery of timely, accurate, and insightful financial information to support operational excellence, risk management, and organizational effectiveness.

In this role, you will :
Strategic Financial Leadership & Planning

Provide strategic leadership and direction for financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting across program finance, philanthropy, and support services.

Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting cycles in collaboration with business units and senior leadership.

Translate organizational strategy and priorities into actionable financial plans, targets, and performance measures.

Program Finance & Business Partnering

Oversee program finance teams supporting operational and program leaders, ensuring high‑quality financial insight, analysis, and advisory.

Partner with senior leaders to assess financial implications of program strategies, funding models, service delivery approaches, and investment decisions.

Monitor financial performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide strategic recommendations to support sustainability and impact.

Performance Management & Decision Support

Lead the development and delivery of financial analysis, dashboards, and executive‑level reporting to support decision‑making.

Ensure clear, consistent, and meaningful financial narratives are provided to senior leadership and governance bodies.

Support scenario analysis and modelling to inform planning, prioritization, and risk mitigation.

Ensure alignment of financial planning and reporting practices with organizational objectives, financial policies, and governance frameworks.

Collaborate with Accounting & Controllership to ensure consistency between financial plans, performance reporting, and underlying accounting treatments.

Identify and elevate financial risks and pressures within programs and support services, and support the development of mitigation strategies.

Leadership & People Management

Lead multiple managers and teams, setting clear direction, objectives, and expectations.

Foster a collaborative, high‑performing, and inclusive team environment, supporting development, workforce planning, and succession.

Contribute to departmental planning, budgeting, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

Represent the finance function on cross‑functional leadership teams and committees, ensuring financial considerations are integrated into organizational decisions.

Influence, negotiate, and build alignment with senior leaders and external stakeholders on complex or sensitive matters.

Lead or contribute expertise to complex projects and initiatives requiring unique or innovative financial solutions.
