POSITION TYPE PERMANENT, FULL-TIME, 37.5 HOURS/WEEK
JOB SUMMARY The Finance Clerk is required to process various types of accounting transactions, prepare and input journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparation of bank deposits and processing payroll. Contribute to the development of financial reports and budgets. Responsible to manage and maintain the financial filing systems. Responsible for financial monitoring of external projects funded by NETES.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS- Perform the day to day processing of accounting transactions in an accurate manner.
- Respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Calculate, prepare and issue documents such as invoices, account statements, purchase orders, cheques and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems.
- Perform related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
- Complete payroll functions to ensure staff are paid in an accurate and timely manner.
- Establish and maintain confidential employee files.
- Process TD1 forms, calculate and verify salaries and benefits, hours of work and deductions.
- Verify coding, obtain signatures, enter data and payroll information and prepare and remit source deductions.
- Meet with external project proponents NETES funds to monitor the projects.
- Order supplies, verify that items ordered have been received.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all financial and employee files.
- Make bank deposits and get cheques signed when required.
- Follow financial guidelines as set out by the Director of Finance.
- Maintain procedure book to ensure processes are documented and updated.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of NETES.
- Performs and records financial monitors for external projects.
- Perform other duties as required.
- A 2-year Certificate/Diploma in Accounting or Bookkeeping and/or a combination of education and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a relevant field.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and maintaining general ledgers.
- Understanding of payroll functions and procedures.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial and payroll information.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial and employee files.
- Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Effective problem solving, analytical skills and verbal, listening and skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy and time management skills and ability to prioritize.
- Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting and preparation of spreadsheets.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications especially excel, database systems, and internet use.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Indigenous community.
- Ability to travel within Winnipeg.
