We currently have an opportunity for a
Consumer Lending Officer to join our team in our Steinbach branch
. As a Consumer Lending Officer, you will provide lending services to current members and potential members. You’ll recognize member needs and promote and cross‑sell all credit union products and services to members, while ensuring all assigned lending activities are in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews with members and prospective members via email, phone, or in person to assess lending needs and recommend appropriate financial solutions.
  • Evaluate and adjudicate applications for mortgages, loans, and lines of credit by analyzing character, capacity, and collateral to determine creditworthiness.
  • Provide timely and knowledgeable responses to member inquiries regarding lending services, resolving routine concerns with professionalism and care.
  • Identify and refer cross‑selling opportunities to relevant departments to support broader financial service engagement and member satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and internal security protocols in all lending‑related activities.
Qualifications
  • Post‑Secondary education in business and/or 2 to 5 years of lending experience, or 5 years sales experience preferably in a financial institution
  • Experience excelling in a dynamic, fast‑paced sales environment with a focus on member service, meeting targets, and driving results
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across teams
  • Proven ability to analyze complex information and make sound, informed decisions
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain long‑term relationships
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, manage time effectively, plan strategically, and follow through on commitments

Digital literacy using a variety of systems and tools

  • Knowledge of Credit Union products, services, and systems would be considered an asset
