Process Improvement Engineer (Controls & Automation)

Join Pollard Banknote Limited as a Process Improvement Engineer (Controls & Automation) in our Winnipeg Head Office located at 140 Otter Street. You will report directly to the Director of Corporate Engineering and support our Plant Manufacturing processes and Corporate Engineering projects.

Job Overview

As a Process Improvement Engineer you will provide high‑quality technical support, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and manage multidisciplinary projects. Your work will focus on design, development, commissioning, and ongoing support of manufacturing process control systems and automation solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Optimize manufacturing process control systems to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
  • Develop and implement new automated processes, including design, integration, and programming of control systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to process control systems, including hardware, software, algorithms, and communication network problems.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost‑benefit analyses for process control and automation projects.
  • Apply project management methodology to meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Stay current with industry advancements and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Provide training and support to supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel on process control best practices.
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary degree in engineering or related discipline (equivalent education and experience may be considered).
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting in a similar role.
  • Experience developing engineering design documents, technical evaluations, and test plans.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards for process control systems (ISA, CSA, NFPA).
  • Experience with continuous improvement strategy and structured problem‑solving methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industrial control platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Bosch‑Rexroth, Beckhoff) is an asset.
  • Ability to travel within Canada and the USA.
